My time spent with the Soriano cooking classes and tours was one of the best experiences I have had in Italy or on any other trip I have taken. By design, the experience is a shared personal journey like a big Italian family Sunday dinner. You do not just go through the motions - take a picture here, have a glass of wine there. This is an opportunity to live the moments breathing in the culture, indulging in the stories and flavors. I felt that CDV put together a top ten list of things to do and see then said let's go play. The small group approach, attention to details, and family style atmosphere makes each day very easy to enjoy; well, all the delicious wine does help a little. I had so many positive experiences that finding a couple to highlight was tough. The tour of the Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola was a fantastic surprise; the Villa was phenomenal and the tour guide provided to our group was wonderful. The cooking classes were always fun for me but the Tuscan roast chicken and pizza night went beyond expectations; what great food! However, the key to CDV is the personal touch. Unbeknownst to me, the CDV staff was aware that my birthday was during the tour week so they had a surprise party. We ate one of the best cakes I've eaten in 67 years. Also, on our incredible tour of the De' Ricci wine cellar and the wine tasting that followed, the De' Ricci winery had just received their inaugural shipment of tee shirts; they looked through their boxes to find my size and sold me the first tee shirt and gave me a discount for being with CDV. As they say, Priceless!!!
